2 Sisters Food Group, the UK-based poultry and convenience food manufacturer, plans to expand its chicken processing plant at Cambusland, Glasgow in Scotland. The 11,000 sq ft expansion will incorporate two high volume ovens, spiral chillers and freezers, and will create 180 new jobs. The Cambuslang site cooks and processes chicken products such as breaded and seasoned chicken.

“We’re delighted to have come to an agreement with the unions and extended our working hours at the factory,” says Olivier Goudineau, managing director of 2 Sisters added value poultry. “This has unlocked the expansion plan and in turn means we can take on 180 additional colleagues.”

He adds: “A lot of hard work has gone into realising this opportunity and it’s a great example of working together to achieve our aims.”

2 Sisters recently announced that it is to cut 200 jobs at its Scottish poultry site at Coupar Angus, which slaughters and packs raw chicken, due to falling demand. Both Scottish sites were acquired by 2 Sisters following its purchase of Vion’s UK red meat and poultry processing facilities in March 2013.
