Hundreds of miles of beautiful scenery and some exhausting hills, the Puratos team left UK head office in Buckingham at 5.30am on Sunday 20th July to start their epic journey to Brussels to raise money for the Milton Keynes based Charity; MacIntyre.

MacIntyre provides learning, support and care for more than 900 children and adults with learning disabilities, at more than 120 MacIntyre services across the UK. The diverse range of services includes registered care homes, supported living schemes and lifelong learning services, as well as residential special schools and a further education college.

The route took the team through Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Kent onto France and then Belgium incorporating the famous Koppenberg from the tour de Flanders with an overnight stop at Ieper, arriving in time to see the moving last post at the Menin gate – memorial to the missing.

Joined by 4 Belgian colleagues for the final 100 mile stretch into Groot Bijgaarden, Brussels. The team cycled in together to be greeted with an arc of Baguettes, the smell of fresh bread and cheers from the crowd that had amassed at the Puratos headquarters.

Through blazing sunshine, rain, punctures, falls, people pushed to their limits, one broken chain, laughter and cheer the team kept going to raise money for MacIntyre raising to date a total of £6625.50.

A massive thank you to all sponsors, should you wish to donate to this fantastic charity please visit www.puratos.co.uk for more details.
