Although the pay is only €9 an hour, recruitment experts state that workers are searching for stable family friendly positions that offer pension.

In a recent recruitment drive in 2014, around 28,500 people attended the event seeking a clerical position.  By mid June 29,811 workers had applied for this position, but the Public Appointments Service only has about 1,000 available positions to fill. The majority of these job openings are based in Dublin.

Considering the number of applications open for review, it will take several months before these candidates are officially employed.

Director of Hays Recruitment Agency in Dublin, Michael McDonagh says that workers are attracted to this position because of the guaranteed income and  job security.
