Ashbury Labelling, the leading provider of specification and labelling services to the food and drink industry, has expanded its senior team with the appointment of Geoff Brown as Technical Director. Geoff joins the team from NSF International where he was a Divisional Managing Director, and has previously held senior positions with Whitbread and Sainsbury’s.

As Technical Director, Geoff will lead the delivery of consistent and accurate technical services including product specification, pack copy and artwork verification work, in line with Ashbury Labelling’s unique end-to-end methodology. He will also be responsible for building strong business partnerships with new and existing clients, as well as developing new market opportunities withUKand international food retailers, manufacturers, restaurant chains and food service operators.

Geoff’s appointment follows a period of strong growth for the company, which has consolidated its position as the leading service provider in this sector. Ashbury Labelling has more than doubled in size in the last 12 months including international service expansion, now offering advice on Eastern European and Far-East regulatory requirements.

Geoff Brown commented: “I am proud to be joining the Ashbury Labelling team. Recent issues with horse meat being found in certain products has emphasised the importance of assuring provenance and integrity across all parts of the supply chain, whilst ensuring that products and their component ingredients are comprehensively specified. My new role at Ashbury Labelling will allow me to work closely with retailers and manufacturers to ensure their product specifications and customer labels are right first time and in line with regulatory and individual brand requirements.”

James Post, Managing Director at Ashbury Labelling added: “Geoff’s experience in supply chain management and food retailing is a perfect fit with Ashbury Labelling’s customers. Product specification and labelling has become incredibly complex for retailers and manufacturers, meaning they increasingly seek expert advice and support from external partners. The new, pan-EU, provision of food information for customers regulations, which will be applied from December 2014, has forced the industry to respond and we have seen a huge upswing in demand for our services as a result. Geoff’s appointment further strengthens our team so we can offer our customers unrivalled support at every step of the product development process.”

Ashbury Labelling’s clients include M&S, Boots, Jamie Oliver and Innocent.
