DIVA is an EU funded project that aims to support SMEs to apply their digital technology to the agrofood, forestry or environmental sectors. The DIVA consortium is based across 6 European countries (France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Ireland) and in the last call for funding there were 100 SMEs funded to conduct 66 projects.

The second call for funding applications opened on the 26th of November 2019 and will close on the 31st of January 2020 at 5 pm Brussels time. To apply for funding, an SME must be registered in one of the DIVA countries (France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece or Ireland). Their project must be focused on digital technology in the agrofood, forestry or environmental sectors. Small to medium enterprises can apply for between €10,000 and €60,000, depending on the type of project and the stage of development of the technology. For more information, the Irish national contact point for DIVA is available at Thomas.byrne@teagasc.ie

To foster the emergence of innovation, DIVA also provides a platform for stakeholders and technology providers to interact. On the DIVA website there is a section which allows stakeholders to submit their industrial challenges (https://www.projectdiva.eu/challenges-list/), which can then be answered by technology providers. Stakeholders can also list their facilities as demonstration sites to help test digital solutions (https://www.projectdiva.eu/demonstration-facilities/).

To support collaboration, DIVA organises webinars and online business to business (B2B) meetings. The next event will be hosted online on the 17th of December 2019. The morning session will be a webinar presentation informing people about the statistics of the 1st DIVA call and tips to making a successful application for the second call. The afternoon session will be dedicated to B2B meetings. Once participants have registered for the B2B meetings and created their profile they will be able to arrange meetings with other companies from across Europe and accept meeting invitations. Anyone who is interested in this event can register at https://www.agrisudouest.com/event/up2diva-european-online-edition-2019-12-17-1994/register
