English regional brewer and pubs operator Adnams has increased operating profits for the six months to 30 June 2014 by 29% to £862,000 on turnover ahead 15% to £30 million as own beer volumes rose by 18%.

“In the last few years we have been developing our beer brand and have focussed on growing our business with managed pub companies and we have also had success working in partnership with other brewers producing collaborative brews,” says Jonathan Adnams OBE (pictured), chairman of Adnams. “The largest driver of the volume increase in the last six months came from this strategy. We are delighted with this achievement, but such beer volume is volatile and can vary by large amounts between different periods.”

Established in 1872, Adnams is best-known as a brewer of beer. However, whilst beer and pubs remain at the heart of the business, Adhnams also owns and runs hotels, makes its own hand-crafted spirits and operates nearly a dozen Adnams Cellar & Kitchen Stores as well as an online store.
