RTÉ Wins Pakman Award 2015

pakman_logo-02-(3)RTÉ were amongst the winners at the Pakman  2015 Awards last night.

The broadcaster won in the Food Waste Management Category.

RTÉ’s entry related to a “Closed Loop” Project managed by Eileen Duggan, RTÉ Property and Services, involving Baxter Storey (with support from  Keelings) and Lynk Taxis.

Every day, between 5pm and 7pm surplus (but within shelf life) food is delivered to the Back Lane Night Shelter.

The term “Closed Loop” in this context represents a partnership between companies who each contribute what they do best to a common good, thereby achieving and setting standards for best practice from an environmental/Corporate Social Responsibility perspective.

RTÉ is fully compliant with the treatment of its food waste and has now taken further measures to minimise quantities. Through the medium of its partnership with other businesses under this “Closed Loop” project, a focus is placed on the value of food as a  resource before it becomes a waste.
