John Sisk & Son (Sisk), Ireland’s leading provider of construction services, and Designer Group, the Dublin headquartered, international electrical and mechanical engineering business, have agreed to form a joint venture. Subject to approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Sisk will acquire, for an undisclosed consideration, a 50% holding in Designer Group’s Facilities Management business, a subsidiary of Designer Group and a premier supplier of integrated property facility management services to leading organisations across both public and private sectors in Ireland.

Stephen Bowcott, Chief Executive of Sisk.

Following completion of the transaction, a new brand and identity for the business will be established in early 2019. The joint venture business will be positioned to deliver a fully integrated facility management service to both the extensive customer bases of Sisk and Designer Group, and to new customers. The development is a significantly positive one and clearly complements the strategic focus of both Sisk and Designer Group.

Stephen Bowcott, Chief Executive of Sisk, commented: “We are delighted to announce an important joint venture that will have the capability, credibility and financial strength to deliver fully integrated facility management services to both existing and new customers in the Republic of Ireland. The newly branded venture will be a dynamic business providing a top-level service to address the changing needs of building users, which includes everything from minor works to facilities upgrading and maintenance. In developing this business, Sisk and Designer Group are committed to investing in the latest diagnostics and digital applications to drive the most efficient use of these services to our customers.”

Michael Stone, Chief Executive of Designer Group.

He added: “Importantly, the joint venture enables us to enhance our long term professional relationships with many of Ireland’s leading businesses.”

Michael Stone, Chief Executive of Designer Group, said:  “We are ambitious for and see real possibilities in the facilities management sector in Ireland. This partnership and joint venture with Sisk will create a business that delivers hard facility services of fabric maintenance and engineering services, including minor works to clients throughout the Republic of Ireland.  We’re looking forward to an exciting period where we will have the capacity and platform to offer and provide these large-scale maintenance contracts within the public and private sectors to both leading national and international organisations.”
