sportlomo-white-bill-board-hong-kong-940x840Sportlomo, is to create 25 new jobs for Co Mayo, following a €270,000 angel investment from West by Northwest.

The sports technology firm, which makes software for the administration of amateur sports, is looking for software developers, support and sales staff as it expands its business in the UK, Europe, North America and the United Arab Emirates.

The company’s software is used by 52 sports organisations to manage player data and league competitions, with almost one million people covered by it.

Founded by Séamus Kyne and Vivienne Lee, Sportlomo also connects brands who want to target a sports-focused audience with governing bodies, leagues and clubs, enabling advertising and sponsorship.

“We have demonstrated the efficiency of our software at home in Ireland and now we are ready to take the company to the next level,” said Mr Kyne. “This angel investment has not only given us the funding to grow and employ 25 new staff members, but WxNW has also provided us with the experience, network and expertise to grow our business and reach new customers all around the world.”

The funding was led by the WxNW angel syndicate, which is the latest addition to Hban’s funding options. It’s the first investment for the syndicate, which has 12 angels, although it is hoping to double that number. It plans to invest up to €2 million in startups based in the northwest and west of the country, driving jobs and growth in the region.

The Sportlomo investment was cofunded by Enterprise Ireland, which invested in Sportlomo earlier this year as part of a €500,000 funding round with private investors.

“We believe that Sportlomo has developed a truly innovative sports administration solution, with huge potential for implementation in a range of sports around the globe,” said WxNW founder John Mullen.

“WxNW is committed to attracting angel investors who are dedicated to giving start-ups based around the western seaboard the opportunity to grow. As a platform, WxNW enables investors to meet with high-potential start-ups, diversify risk and increase the chances of gaining significant returns on their investment.”
