TechConnect Live, Ireland’s largest technology event, is delighted to confirm Virgin Media Business as the event’s headline sponsor for 2017. Ireland’s best business broadband provider is the perfect partner for TechConnect Live (now known as Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live), thanks to its commitment to providing unparalleled connectivity and service to Ireland’s SMEs, start-ups and existing businesses.

Commenting on the partnership, Paul Farrell, Vice President for Virgin Media Commercial said: “Virgin Media Business is delighted to be headline sponsor to Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live 2017. We believe that the event shares the same values that we do in terms of fostering innovation and creating lasting, valuable relationships with key influencers in the tech and IT industries.”

To further strengthen its commitment to businesses around Ireland, Virgin Media Business is once again running VOOM, a competition where the overall finalists get to pitch their ideas to Richard Branson and win a share of the prize fund. Ireland became part of the process for the first time last year, a move that proved very successful with Irish entrants making up 10% of the finalists. “For businesses that enter VOOM and move onto the shortlist, the real benefit they see isn’t really to do with the prize fund. It’s the profile they get from going through the process. Finalists receive a significant amount of coverage as they go through the various stages and each year, they tell us that’s the over-arching benefit.”

The VOOM tour bus, a double decker bus fitted out like a high tech mobile office of the future, will be at Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live 2017, being held on the 31st of May in the RDS, Dublin. The VOOM tour bus will also travel around Ireland and the UK, spending time in various towns and cities and encouraging local businesses to attend seminars on digital, marketing, finance, planning and networking.

Speaking about the VOOM tour bus, Paul added: “We’re very happy to be bringing the VOOM tour bus to Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live this year. It will form a large part of our presence on the day. We will also be bringing over a number of business experts to speak at the event on a range of issues. Over 90% of our customers are SMEs – part of our reason for sponsoring Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live 2017 is the fact that SMEs are increasingly reliant on fast connectivity and the highest level of service. We are the only business that offers a 24-hour service commitment as part of our contract. We’ve also got the fastest broadband and it’s that kind of reassurance and peace of mind that SMEs need today.”
