Youth unemployment drops according to new CSO figures

According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics office, youth unemployment has fallen while the number of women in the workforce has risen.
The official unemployment rate dropped to 8.3% in the first three months of the year from 9 per cent in the final quarter of 2015, the data shows.
The decline in the jobless rate came as number of people working in the State rose by 46,900 or 2.4% in the year to end March, the Central Statistics Office said. Some 1.98 million people were at work in the State in the first quarter, the CSO said.
