Carlow-based digital security providers Netwatch are to create 85 jobs after the company raised €19.5 million in funding.

The Irish Government-supported BDO Development Capital Fund invested a significant amount in Netwatch, that protects customers using their surveillance solutions across industries such as retail, logistics, warehousing, construction, manufacturing, utilities and more.

The company uses remote CCTV monitoring that, once breached, alerts intruders to the fact that they are being watched and that the police are on their way.

The growth in jobs in Carlow will bring the number of employees at the company to 250. Further development is planned across other sites in Newry and a new office under construction in Boston as Netwatch eyes global expansion.

CEO and co-founder David Walsh said: “Following this boost in funding, Netwatch will now focus on investing in strategic areas of their business where they see huge potential.”

Speaking at the launch event, Taoiseach Enda Kenny commented: “Netwatch is an example of a homegrown Irish company that is competing on a global scale. The announcement today of 85 new jobs shows that Ireland is to the forefront of research and development in the software sector.”
