dart-trainDon Cunningham, the Irish Rail’s director of infrastructure stated that the Dublin Airport needs to set aside a space for the Dart line. This project to build the Metro North is expected to cost around €2.4bn.

Those in charge of the project insist that there must be space for the Dart to connect to Dublin Airport from the city centre. The Metro project is also being supported by the government.

Funding for this project was included in the 2016-2022 spending plan, and the funds amounted to €27bn. The line is expected to be 16.5km long. Unfortunately, it will be about ten years before the Metro North line is operational and they don’t plan to start construction until 2021.

As Dublin Airport has over 27 million passengers and counting this year, the necessity for a rail network connection is becoming a necessity.
