Swiss dairy group Emmi is selling Trentinalatte, its Italian yoghurt manufacturing operation, to the LIVIA Group based in Munich and Vienna. Emmi had originally taken over Trentinalatte, based in Roverè della Luna in Northern Italy, in July 2006, with the aim of building up a strong base in the Italian yoghurt business.

As Emmi explained on 27 August when presenting its results for the first six months of 2014, an impairment has been made necessary by the difficult economic situation in Italy. All options for Trentinalatte’s future have been considered carefully. Having thoroughly scrutinised a large number of potential buyers, Emmi has decided to sell the company to the LIVIA Group for an undisclosed price.

The LIVIA Group is an industrial holding company with a wide range of investment interests including corporates, real property, art and agriculture.
