US-based flexible packaging materials manufacturer LPS Industries has extended its product portfolio with the launch of new packaging films ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) and nanoparticles-based ultrathin.

Both of the two new films are environmentally friendly and offer oxygen barrier properties. Compliant with global regulatory guidelines, the films can be used in place of PVDC (Saran-coated) films in the flexible packaging sector.

LPS Industries vice president Domenick Pasqualone said that the company has developed a film that combines PET with a coextruded ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer.

“Not only is it cost effective for larger runs of commonly used gauges, it is also crystal clear, odourless, and safe for consumable product contact. It can also provide multiples of the oxygen-barrier properties of PVDC-coated PET,” he added.

“We introduced these two new solutions to address our customers’ needs and to position them to successfully address current and future cost and regulatory challenges in the food, snack, coffee, tea and pet markets, no matter where in the world market they are competing.”

The nanoparticle-made film has a coating that is only a fraction of a micron thick, yet provides an unsurpassed oxygen and moisture barrier.

LPS Industries provides packaging solutions to a range of markets, including medical, food, transportation, electronics and agricultural.
